PESG Sports School is an adult education institution founded in 2001, and has been operating under this leadership since 2007 with its headquarters in Zagreb. All programs implemented by the PESG have the expert opinion of the Agency for Vocational and Adult Education and the decision of the Ministry of Science and Education. About 10 years ago, the PESG Sports School recognized the importance of including Roma in education in order to enable their integration into society and, as an ultimate goal, finding a job. So far, we have conducted basic education for Roma (more than 400 participants) and training for simpler occupations in order to provide them with access to the labor market. Also, for many years, the institution has been preparing and implementing EU projects aimed at vulnerable groups, including the Roma.
PESG Sports School has extensive experience in the implementation of European projects, either as a holder or as a partner. We have been participating in European projects from the very beginning, through IPA pre-accession assistance, measure IV Human Resources Development, where we were the holder of the project “Development of a training program for chefs for traditional, local and regional cuisines – Tastes of Tradition”. As a partner, we participated in the project “New Skills for New Better Jobs”, the implementation of this project was within the operational program Human Resources Development.
The institution has experience in the implementation of projects from the European Social Fund, and since 2018 we are the holders of two projects from the said fund: Adult education to professionals and Education – the key to success in tourism. As part of the project Education – the key to success in tourism, as a result of the project, a modern online learning platform E – skola was created, which is in line with the new information and communication technology environment. In addition to the modern platform, we have developed two specific occupations to empower participants to work with tourism and specific groups. A chef for dietary dishes and a collaborator in tourism have been developed to work with specific target groups. We also included 40 young Roma under 25 in the project who underwent education and professional practice.
The university is a partner in two ESF projects: Improve life rural people and ProAktivno – professional activation for employment.
In addition to the ESF, we participate in projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund in the project Croatian Quality in Adult Education.
The PESG project team has several years of experience in working with projects, implementing adult education programs and working with Roma.
